 ADULT PROBATION OFFICER

 


 Position Type:  Full-time (35 hour week); Non-Classified
 Address:  1 Courthouse Square, Bryan, Ohio
 Typical Work Schedule:  8:30 am-4:30 pm; must be flexible to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Pay Range:   Based on Experience
 

 JOB SUMMARY:
 The Probation Officer is an officer of the Court and is responsible to the Common Pleas Judge for the coordination and completion of community control sanctions as well as ensuring public safety. Incumbent is responsible for the implementation of evidence based interventions for felony offenders placed on community control. Compulsory reports to the Chief Probation Officer.
 
 QUALIFICATIONS:
 Bachelor’s or associates degree with two (2) years experience required with a focus on criminal justice, law enforcement, social work or related field preferred.
 Must be certified in OPATA certified in firearms and ORAS certified or obtain certification within 12 months of employment.
 Must possess a valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
 Must be able to submit to a drug screening.
 Must not have a Criminal Record.
 Must meet and maintain qualifications for driving on county business as a continued condition of employment.
 All required licenses and certificates must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
 This position requires an individual who has integrity and the self-confidence to ensure the Orders of the Court are complied with by the Probationer. The individual must be reliable, dependable, able to multi-task, and meet deadlines.  The individual must be respectful in striving to accomplish the mission of the Williams County Adult Probation Department. 


 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform physical demands and exhibit mental aptitude needed to perform field work duties including recognition of unusual or threatening conditions, maintain self-control, and take appropriate action, which may include the use of a firearm.
