Early Intervention Specialist
Compensation: Commensurate with education and experience.
Summary of Duties: Under the direction of the Director of Children’s Services, the Early Intervention Specialist is a member of the Early Intervention Team and works directly with parents and their children, ages 0 through two years, who have developmental delays/disabilities. This is a full time, 12 month, 250 days per year, bargaining unit position.
Hours: Monday through Friday and vary to meet the needs of the families.
Qualifications:
- Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Social Work, Nursing or other related field. Certified, or certifiable, by the Department of Developmental Disabilities as a Developmental Specialist and/or Early Intervention Service Coordinator.
- Knowledge of early childhood development, family dynamics, and evidence based interventions.
- Knowledge and ability to use a computer and programs, including Microsoft Office programs, Google Calendar and DODD applications.
- Coordinate and complete screening assessments and evaluations in a variety of settings on infants and children, age 0-2, to determine eligibility and need for EI Services and develop and initial IFSP.
- Maintain an active caseload including writing the IFSP.
- Implement programming as specified in the IFSP including regular home visits.
- Coordinate the transition process including: completing referral form, coordinating transition meetings, documenting transition plan and ensure its implementation, disseminating developmental information to all necessary agencies, participating as a team member for development of an IEP, and completing appropriate follow up information on the centralized data system.
- Maintain accurate and timely written and electronic records concerning all services delivered to the eligible child and his/her family.
- Attend staff conferences and meetings, and function as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
- Assist with monitoring levels of satisfaction families and agencies have with the Early Intervention Program.
- Provide public awareness and educational training of services available through DD for qualifying population.
Position Location
Office will be located at the Williams County Board of Developmental Disabilities, 11246 State Route 15, Montpelier, Ohio 43543. Will meet families in their homes and communities.
