Clare “Sharkey” Mandly (1931-2022)


Clare W. “Sharkey” Mandly, age 91, of Delta, Ohio, passed away in his home on Saturday, October 8, 2022.

He had worked in maintenance for the Campbell Soup Company in Napoleon for over 30 years. Prior to that he had been a plasterer.

Sharkey was born on January 23, 1931, the son of John B. and Idella M. (Funkhauser) Mandly.

On April 7, 1979 he married Lelah Baker, and she preceded him in death in 2021. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.

He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting, gambling, trapping, country music, dancing, being a prankster, and was an avid mushroom hunter. He also enjoyed camping and cooking.

Surviving is his daughter, Janice Reynaga of Delta; brother, John (Bonnie) Mandly, Jr. of Delta; two sisters, Shirley Bernath of Wauseon and Joyce (Larry) Walter of Delta. He is also survived by grandchildren, Jarrad Mandly, Erica Reynaga, Jennifer Atlas, and his constant companion, his dog, Misty.

He also leaves many nieces and nephews behind. He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, Alan Mandly, and both parents.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Fulton County Humane Society.
