Deputy Auditor

Assistant Payroll Clerk/Accounts Payable/Receivable


Immediate opening in Williams County Auditor’s Office for full-time (40 hours/week) deputy auditor with a strong finance/budgetary background. Applicant must be well organized and highly motivated and have a high school degree, ideally with two (2) years of demonstrated work-related experience. The candidate will report directly to the Auditor. Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and pride in your work is a priority. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word programs. Pay to commensurate with knowledge and experience. 

  • Payroll Duties: Review and maintain payroll processing data and systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions for salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and various payroll deductions.  Prepare and submit direct deposit file; print and distribute warrants.  Process periodic reports, e.g., reports for taxes, retirement systems, unemployment, worker’s compensation, benefits, dues, etc., and process related payments.  Monitor accrual balances for accuracy. 
  • Fiscal Duties: Receives and processes daily pay-ins; reviews and process vouchers for payment; process purchase orders; participate with month end balancing; key supplemental appropriations and appropriation adjustments; review and maintain fixed asset reports of the county; assists Fiscal Manager with duties involving accounts payable and receivable and other fiscal responsibilities as needed.
  • ClericalAnswers the telephone; responds to questions; directs calls, and takes messages; prepares correspondence and reports on the computer; gathers data; researches and prepares reports; proofreads correspondence and reports to ensure accuracy.           
  • Cross-train and serve as back-up for other team members.  Maintain training and continuing education requirements.
  • Coordinate meetings and maintain minutes for various boards and committees.
  • Maintain and follow record retention schedules and maintain fixed asset inventory reports. 
  • Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance
